2007 STS Shifter Problem
I am the new owner of a 2007 Cadillac STS with the 3.6 V-6 and Automatic Transmission. the STS is also a 'push button' start. Frequently when I put the transmission in 'Park' and shut off the STS the vehicle DIC (Driver Information Center) reports that the car is not yet in 'Park', and the chimes continues.
I think I need to remove part of the center console and repair or adjust the park shift position sensor? I need direction on how to remove and replace the center console if that is where I need to make a repair? I am very handy at most auto repairs. Any of the forum members assistance here would be immensely appreciated, Thanks, Dan |
There is a Technical Service Bulletin about this. TSB Reference #07-07-30-032
I have found via google that there are various reasons for getting that message. Shift linkage needing adjustment. Micro-switches in the shifter assy needing adjustment/replacement. A switch in the transmission needing replacement. Combinations of the above. You can find "how-to's" via google. I had been looking at buying a CTS with this problem. That's how I found this. |
Thanks for your help! I have tried to remove some of the center console so far and it has proven to be quite a project. I'll look into the TSB you mentioned and I appreciate your help very much, thank you! Dan
