2002 seville sts rear disc brake question

Hi, I'm new in the forum and need some advice from some of you brake experts. I just replaced all 4 rotors and pads on my seville to eliminate pulsation, plus they needed changed anyway. When testing and bedding them in, the pulsation was eliminated and they were smooth, but after 5 minutes I noticed the rear disc brakes started rubbing from 25 mph to a stop. The abnoxious rubbing noise continues after a few days now. Both rear wheels are rubbing at the same time. Was there an adjustment to the rear brakes, the parking brake, should I have bled them ?? Have you heard of this problem?

Please advise the new guy if you can...............thanks an awful lot.

Todd

RE: 2002 seville sts rear disc brake question

I feel silly replying to my own post, but I solved my problem and wanted to inform anyone else who may ever run into this problem.

The brake rubbing noise was coming from the pads being uneven against the rotor. When installing the pads back into the caliper, I forgot a very important step. You must rotate the caliper piston so that the groove lines up with the pin on the back of the pad. Since I did not rotate the piston, I did not have a flush mount with the pad and the piston. Therefore getting the loud rubbing noise at slower speeds when braking.

Lesson learned !
