1999 deville ran out of gas shut down engine..will not restart

:mad:Hello all,

i own a 99 deville which runs perfectly fine for many many days. The car ran out of gas this morning,it was on empty when i drove it home last night. The car started this morning but then after driving it for a block it was out of gas and barely moved then I stopped the car. Went to put in 4-5 gallons of gas and it will crank perfectly but will not start.

Can any one tell me if there is a shut off or safety reset feature on the 1999 deville ?

Any advice on how to do this.

thank you in advanced
:o

GM does not use "Fuel Pump Reset" switches. Check for codes and fuel pressure.

tank trash

That last bit of fuel may have had dirt, rust, goo, etc... check fuel filter .

Actually the fuel pump was burned out and when they took it out part of it was melted. Can a low in gas condition cause it to burn out and perhaps melt?
