1993 DeVille dying

Car has been running fine. A friend and I took a 200 mile round trip a couple days ago and on the return leg the durn thing just died twice. Now the "Service Soon" lite is on.

I tried to read the codes aka the 13 page do***ent for the OBD 1. The initial codes spit out were:
E27
E40
E98
EE
E40
.70

No C or H at the end of any of them. No other letters were ever produced than the "E". When trying to select a system all that was displayed was E9.5, E0.0, E0.1, and etc. having no mention in the do***ent.

Can anyone help me out here?

Don

E40 - P/S switch circuit problem, when P/S pump pressure goes up it opens switch and idle speed increases. If it doesn't engine could stall.

IIRC when you retrive the codes it should give you a "E" for current ECM or "EE" for history ECM codes before it gives you a code. Same goes for BCM it will show "F" or "FF" for example ("E" E40, E27 then go to History "EE" E98, E70.) once you get you codes it will show ".7.0" meaning that code retreival is done

i had a 92 deville and if i remember right thats what mine did i may be wrong but i thought that may help. as for you codes here is what i came up with.
(E027) .......... Open throttle signal switch
(E040) .......... Power steering Pressure switch open
(E098) .......... High RPM P/N to D/R Shift Under ISC

Thanks for the information. Is this supposed to be OBD instead of OBD1 ? How do I get to the BCM codes?

Any Idea where I might find a diagram or pic of the location of the sensors on this car?

the BCM codes should show up after the ECM codes if you didnt see any then you may not have any. as for sensors you sometimes can see them easily but i dont know off hand where that pwr steering sensor would be. When i looked around online i got the impresson that it was on the steering rack tower. Maybe someone on here can clear this up for you but i would assume if its on the steering rack you may be better off replacing the steering rack. who knows hopfully well figure this out.

P/S Pressure sensor is on high pressure hose; it looks a a oil pressure switch with 2 wires to it. Codes E / F codes are history EE / FF codes are current.
