1990 Brougham steering linkage problem

Greetings, I am a new member and a new owner of a 1990 Brougham, 3.7 liter.

I am replacing the steering linkage. I bought a Moog center link (DS1148) and Master Ride inner tie rod ends (ES2020L). The shoulder of the tie rod end ball stud passes through front side of the center link and cannot be tightened down. I tried a 1/8 inch washer under the nut but still bottoms out on the thread and the rod is loose. I tried a Moog inner rod end but it is the same.

I measured the thickness of the new and old link and they are the same. I measured the front and back width holes in the new and old links and they are within a 32nd – the old one a little more worn. The diameter of the top and bottom of the new and old studs are within 3/32.

I tried the new ends on the old center link and it tightens down as though it fits as it should, nowhere nest the bottom end of the threads, but I did not dog it down all the way.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

I called Moog's technical hot-line and found I had received the wrong center link. The DS1048 was for a heavier vehicle, such as the Caddy hearse. What I needed was the DS1116. I bought it at the local parts store, for less than on line, installed it and all is well. Thanks to those that viewed the post.
