1971 cadillac calis/ coupe deville will not stay charged
 
HI I just got a 1971 cadillac coupe ....on the car it says calis or something like that....the problem with the car is it wont keep charge...its not the alternater, and battery...the problem is when u boost it and I even put a new battery in a couple of hours to 24hr it looses its charge and will be dead ....is there any one who knows the problem? I had a friend whos had a 1973 coupe deville wit the same problem and he said its the postive wire under the car some where ...can anyone tell me if this is correct and where thanks email calvdaley@aol.com

Hey Model: Put a digital amp. meter on the battery, you will obviously see the amps dropping little by little. Pull one fuse at a time until you see the amp. drop stop. You will then know which circuit you are dealing with. Trace all the wires from this circuit and all the grounds for this circuit to make sure all grounds are good and all wires are not frayed and shorting out. It will take some time but will save you a bundle. GOOD luck.
