01 STS Stalling, need help please.

01 STS 128,000 miles it has recently stalled on me when comming to a stop sign. Had trouble with it for about 10 minutes throught the city at stop lights. Ironicallythe problem went away after the 10 minutes or so, like it had never happened and has not done it since. I want to fix the problem and not ignore it. I have read a few posts talking about replacing crank and cam sensors, and idle air control valve. Has anyone delt with this before? Do you have any Ideas or helpful hints or diagrams to fix my problem? Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks.

1st thing I'd do is check to see if there's any codes in the history that might point you in the right direction.Other than that,if it ain't broke don't fix it.You can drive yourself nuts & waste alot of money for nothing. If it happens again you can take a "snapshot" in the diagnostics & record what's going on.Any questions on how to do that logon to AWH Cadillac Resources. It will give you a complete diagnostics codes and how to work the system.

Recently it has done it again. When I start it back up is seems as though the idle surges say from 600 10 1200 rpm. Also while driving down the road I took my foot off the gas to coast and it acted like the cruise control was on for about 10 seconds then started to slow down. I'm thinking maybe a throttle position sensor. ???????????

It's a good possibility. My '95 Eldorado did the same thing.I replaced the throttle sensor & the idle cleared up.It never stalled, though. The TPS isn't very expensive so if it doesn't solve it you're not out alot of money. If it still idles erratic it's probably the idle control motor.
