Hi folks! I have a black 1989 Coupe Deville, gold edition. The vin is IG6CD1157K4290XXX. It gets weird as numbers vary at the body style, that is, the 6th and 7th digits. Instead of being "47", it is the number "11". Also, the engine # is "5", and the check digit is "7". The same numbers are in the trunk lid and under the hood.

I'm in Canada, but I understand the vin's are allocated in the USA where it was built.

Weird or what??!! Anyone know why??

Looked up the vin. Indicates 473 listed, but only 25 with B94 - gold emblems.

 

That site includes Chevrolet, Saturn, GMC, Hummer, Cadillac, Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Geo, Dodge, Plymouth, Jeep and Chrysler!

1980 to early 2010.
