97 sls, rear main/lower crank case seal?

Hi again, forgive me if you've read this before. I've been a member since '11
and while I was waiting for an answer to my question I checked my e-mail only
to come back to find I was not here and my e-mail was wrong (only one I've ever had) anyway I knew a comp geek who fixed it.Moving on, my mom's 97 SLS
was leaking oil but not enough to concern me or my local mechanic. Then was pouring oil out of (if I'm standing in front of it) on the front left. I took it to the shop who said it was rear main seal leak that they didn't do and to put blue devil oil in it, since to fix it would be $1,500. I went to Advantage auto to buy it and they knew someone to do it for $900. After 2 wks, since their lift was broke I picked it up & towed to the dealer, who said it was the lower crank case seal & would be $4,200 and said I should sell it. So, since I'm a "little lady" and need your help to know what I'm talking about, it has 90,000 mi, garage kept, fab shape, any suggestions? Thank y'all SO much. Ps., Sorry but I'm hoping a moderator will see this and contact me @ my e-mail page to find out why I keep having problems here, it might be because I'm not computer literate LOL
