Problem: Drivers power window malfunction

I have a problem with the drivers power window functioning.
At times it will come down, But will not go back up.
The only way to get the window to go back up is to TURN OFF THE IGNITION all together, Then restart the vehicle and put the window back up.
I have replaced the driver window switch twice, But problem persists.

How do I correct this problem

Thanks Art:)

You need to have switch loose so it can be tested when it happens, your other choice would be to replace motor because of a possibility of sticking brushes. Is window all the way down when this happens or also when partially down?

The problem seems to manifest itself when window is in any position up, down or in between
If I pull over and shut down the Eng. and restart same the window will work just fine.
This happens on the driver side only.

Window motors had a bad habit of sticking back then, They're not hard to replace. Door trim panels lift off. Pulling them off breaks hooks off. There is a hidden screw under carpet portion on door trim panel towards the rear. Small screw driver will flip flap out to access.

Power Window Issue

Thanks for the reply and help.
I found a new power window motor at a reasonable cost.
Along with a video of how to change it out.
I plan to buy and do this repair just after the New Year.

Christmas has tapped out my project budget money for this month.
Unlike the Federal Gov., I don't spend money I don't have budgeted.
The Caddy is not a Daily driver more of a toy project.
Beside the weather is such keeping the window up just now is not a problem.

In the future, I would like to change out the Leather Gear Shift Knob.
I have seen some in High Polish Wood that look very nice on ebay.
Question is, How do I remove the old one.
Any Suggestions???

Thanks for all the help thus far

window issue

I placed an order for the window motor yesterday, I expect it to arrive in a day or two.
The Shift Knob handle is another issue.
It seems the shift knob has a spring loaded "Device" at the finger position that allows the shift lever to move from position to position.
I have also seen the clip (similar to a staple) you mention...Not only on My Knob, but on replacement shift knobs on E-bay as well as other sites.
I'm just a bit Leary about messing up the spring mechanism in the shift lever itself.
Any Suggestions?

Window motor issue

Well the window motor fix did not last long.:o
I had funny smell come from the door area, The window STOPED working.
Though it might be the switch or wiring issue....Not So:rolleyes:
The motor had brown oily substance at its base, the smell of burned substance was clear.
I checked wiring to motor from switch...All is well;)
With motor out of door, I applied 12v power directly to motor....No Action.

New motor was placed on order, and is in the "Pipeline" @ No charge.:)

To be continued.....
