It really depends of your road conditions during the winter driving season. I live in Michigan, which is about the same climate that you have in Toronto. All of my vehicles are either AWD or 4WD. Granted, we don't need that option only a hand full of times per year. But when we do, it is well worth having. Especially for me. My daily commute is nearly 150 miles per day ( roughly 241 KM's) so for me, that's a must have. My XTS4 drives as if it's on rails through snow and ice. On dry roads, you would never know it's an AWD. And mileage is great. I get just under 25 MPG. I do drive mostly highway though, but that is outstanding for a large car like this. Just my opinion, but I wouldn't be without it. Only other suggestion I have for you is to avoid the early years of the XTS. Look for at least a 2016 if you can. Too many issues. (Ask me how I know!) Good luck with the hunt!
