Trunk proximity sensor stopped working

Up until recently I could open the trunk on my 2007 STS as long as I had the key fob in my pocket. Now that feature has stopped working.

The the trunk will open if you press the trunk release button on the fob but the proximity sensor feature seems to have stopped functioning.

Everything else related still works as it should. The proximity sensors on the both front doors, the door lock and unlock buttons on the fob, remote start, emergency button on the fob.

So far all I have done is replace the battery in my key fob which made no difference. I really don't think it's related to the key fob because my wife gets the same result with her fob.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice

Robert

I have what I "think" is the same issue....

When I get close to the trunk and I press the little button ON THE TRUNK BETWEEN THE LICENSE PLATE BULBS to open the trunk..... NOTHING....... NOTHING at all. I'm so confused.

Any help is appreciated.

Seems the messages aren't getting through, or our issues are very unique.

there is a failure for the FOB and receiver to do hand shake.
my advice is to have TECH look at it with diagnostic computer.
do not know if your cars allow for customer programing, if so, you may be able to DIY ..
These FOB and/or remote features change model to model, year to year.

Check for a valet switch in glove box.
