STS Air Conditioning Trouble

Hello and thanks for taking the time to read my post. I have a 2000 Cadillac STS. The air-conditioning system will not blow cold air. I looked under the hood to see if the clutch was engaging but I am not exactly sure that I was looking at the right thing (cannot tell which is which). What I thought may have been the A/C Compressor did not look like it was spinning. The belt was spinning around it but not that part in the middle. Ive checked the fuses and they are good. So I guess What Im asking is.....will the clutch spin if the system is out of 134? How expensive are the compressors on this machine? How can I tell if it is out of 134 or if the compressor is bad? Where is the port to fill the system with 134 if I buy a kit to do it myself?

Thank You for your time

RWH

RE: STS Air Conditioning Trouble

Refrigerant level is monitored and the A/C is shut off when it gets too low, but warning messages will be sent with and before that. Do you have any DTCs (codes)?
