How do I remove the hazard warning light switch on 2001 STS ?

The 4-way hazard warning light switch on my 2001 STS seems to be dead - the left and right indicators (on the steering column stalk) work perfectly, but the 4-way hazard flashers (on the central dash switch) are dead.

I can't find a way to remove this switch. I have raised the horizontal dash cover and removed the two 7mm screws at the two ends of the wooden trim, which still seems to be held somewhere in the middle (near the hazard switch). I have tried to pop out the air vents from the wooden trim using a butter knife, but none of the three of them will release.

Has anyone got this switch / trim out, and can tell me what I am missing please ??

You aren’t actually missing anything, to be honest. It’s hard to see, but if you’re saying you can’t get the module out, there are little clips on the top and bottom of the module itself. Make sure you undo the electrical harness, then pull up on the top of the module itself. You’ll feel it flex. Now, pull the module itself upwards with your other hand to disengage the bottoms clips, and wiggle it out.
I will say, however, that if some lights work and some don’t, it may not be the switch/relay. If the relay is bad, all of the light will act up due to them being contained within the same module.
I hope this helps!
