Gear/Brake Release

Dear Seville Enthusiasts,

On cold mornings, it is very difficult for me to engage the shifter into gear. I've had the mechanisms lubricated before and that helped, but I imagine there is some kind of vacuum actuator connected to the brake pedal. Sometimes, I really have to jingle and put some pressure before the shifter releases and goes right, so that I can take it down and into gear. Is there a part that I should replace?

Thanks, alan

It not vacuum its electric. Has drink ever spilled on shifter area of console? If so shift linkage within console maybe gummed up.

Very interesting. I've never spilled a drink there, but I purchased the car used. I oughta ask my mechanic to go in there and see. Is it really involved to go in there and clean it up?

Its not hard to see, if its gunked up it can be difficult to clean.
