Gear/Brake Release
Dear Seville Enthusiasts,
On cold mornings, it is very difficult for me to engage the shifter into gear. I've had the mechanisms lubricated before and that helped, but I imagine there is some kind of vacuum actuator connected to the brake pedal. Sometimes, I really have to jingle and put some pressure before the shifter releases and goes right, so that I can take it down and into gear. Is there a part that I should replace? Thanks, alan |
RE: Gear/Brake Release
What year is your seville? Console or column shift?

RE: Gear/Brake Release
It is a 1998 Seville STS with a console shifter.

It not vacuum its electric. Has drink ever spilled on shifter area of console? If so shift linkage within console maybe gummed up.

RE: Gear/Brake Release
Very interesting. I've never spilled a drink there, but I purchased the car used. I oughta ask my mechanic to go in there and see. Is it really involved to go in there and clean it up?

RE: Gear/Brake Release
Its not hard to see, if its gunked up it can be difficult to clean.
