2006 STS noise coming from inside fuel fill tube

Just curious if there is supposed to be any noise coming from the fill tube. I filled up today and noticed quite a bit of "tapping or repeated thudding noises" from inside the hole/down in the tank. I've never heard any noise from that location in previous cars that I've owned and didn't think fuel pumps made any noise besides the key on start up whine.

Not really if fuel tank vent lines are restricted it's possible. Are any other conditions other than noise? Heat shields can ping and pop with temp but isn't common to STS

I'm almost home and I'm going to take a look. The only things I've noticed other than the noise is on my scanner the Ecm, o2, and cat status ready symbols all flash indicating not ready status. Also, fuel trims are in spec when idling but upon acceleration fuel trims turn rich at -8 to -16.
