08 STS. 2 types of TPMS?

My TPMS on my right front tire died this week . I was at a tire store today and they tell me they have a programmable and a non programmable sensor in stock. Which one do I need to buy? Of course the non programmable senor is a lot cheaper. The tire store said they cannot tell until they have the old sensor in hand. I presume that the tire sensor will be the programmable one. Is there a way to tell without having the old sensor in hand ?

My Cadillac is an 08, STS4 with the 4.6 North star engine. Has the factory Nav. in it

Plus If my sensors are programmable, When I rotate the tires do I need to get the sensors reprogrammed ?

thanks

Go to dealer and get correct one. Dealer will look it by VIN to insure you get correct part. The outside bead of tire needs broken down to install. Balancing may not be required.
Yes sensors need to be relearned when tires are rotated. Check owners manual for procedure.

Will do. I was trying to stay away from the dealership seeing their cost is more expensive than a tire shop. I wonder if the sensors OEM number would cross match to an aftermarket sensor
