Default Radio Problems

When I first got my SRX, there was no way to make the time display on the radio. The tab on the screen that allows you to turn the display on and off is missing.

Also when I first got it, there were six pages of favorites available. Now, there are only two. I haven't done anything to modify the audio system.

Is there any way to reset the radio to the factory settings and restore the missing functions?

I would suggest to down to local dealer. Normally if not they are not busy someone in service or sales will help you get familiar with car and not charge you. They can also advise you of recalls or special policies that may apply.

Now I have a new problem. The CD changer doesn't work at all. I want to replace it myself, knowing that the dealer will still have to program the replacement, but I have two questions.

1. eBay lists the changers and head units separately, but the descriptions of the head units include the changers. Is it actually two separate parts, or one?

2. Does anyone know the part number? I don't want to tear into the center stack just to look it up. Identical-looking units say they're not compatible with the SRX, but I know from personal experience compatibility is determined by the manual entry of the seller.

GM has both single and multi disc changers made to radio. They also have a remote changer. GM changers have issues with "burned" CDs which can cause a kinds of troubles. The problem is the player will try to read the fragments typically at the end and beginning of tracks. Dealer ( that bad word) parts department can tell you what you have, and price of remain unit. Reman units typically they carry a 12 mo warranty. If there are trapped CDs in player, you can request CDs to be returned. The repair center may also let you know if a disc is corrupted. If you choose ebay you want to be sure the number on your radio matches the number of the one you are buying. They are not all interchangeable. It is also possible there is a software update for CD operation of course that would be another question for dealer. If you are looking at used unit because VIN is programmed into radio; you may know if it works until it is reprogrammed.
