RE: Service Schedule
OK, I reread my post and I guess it was a little hazy - let me clarify. I bought it with 9000 on the clock. It now has 15000. I cant find anything in my owners manual that says "take it in for a 15000 mile service, or take it in for a 30000 mile service". Oil life is at 50%, it was 90% when I bought it. Yep, I can call a local dealer (I bought the car about 400 miles from here) but I thought that someone here would know.
15000 miles sound about right for a service? I replaced a taurus with this SRX, it needed a service in the first 15000 miles and then every 30k after that, if I remember correctly. |
RE: Service Schedule
No need to change oil until the car tells you to.

RE: Service Schedule
What about transmission oil, coolant, brake check stuff like that? Does this car require scheduled services or do you just bring it in when you figure it needs something?

RE: Service Schedule
Maintenance schedule is in owners manual. Your car has the simplified maintenance schedule meaning : Maint I or II is due when the change oil message or light comes on. Maint I and II both consist of oil change, tire rotation (some models have mismatched tires so tire rotation does not apply),and inspections of brakes, filters, suspension, steering, linkages, etc. There are 4 mileage based services at 25,50,75, & 100k which vary in what they consist of. Models with cabin filters once a year or 15 k miles. Tire rotation is still suggested at 6-7500 miles this will mostly apply to MOBIL 1 cars, since they have the normally they will go well beyond 7500 miles between oil change. You are required to do Maint II or atleast change oil once a year, on vehicles that aren't in use enough to turn change oil message on. Many owners will not get their maintenance done at the dealer, its the warranty repair place only, but a good overall service relationship with dealer can aid in getting out of warranty assistance when car is out of warranty. If you choose to do your own maint save parts receipts and make log book of when and what was done it should have date and mileage. If you need to have maint records. It should not look like it was just made and you can need to know where it is. If it takes you a week to find it; record could be "suspect" as a fabrication even though you have been doing your maintenance as scheduled.

RE: Service Schedule
Thanks! That was exactly what I was looking for. Nice to know I do not have to take it to the dealer if I dont want to as well.
