Exhaust smell in cabin
 

About six months ago I had a local garage work on the exhaust of my 6 cyl 2006 SRX. He said that I had two options, bring it to a dealer for a $1300 exhaust system, or he could try to MacGyver a system with twin resonators (instead of the single resonator with two in/outs).
Saved myself about thousand dollars but now I get a strong exhaust smell in the cabin after driving about five minutes. It is basically intolerable, and my sense is I need to have dealer put in the OEM exhaust.


I brought it back to that same garage multiple times and they cannot find any leak anywhere in the system.


Has anyone had any experience with this type of problem, or more importantly what it took to fix it.

take it to a MUFFLER shop and have then look at it .. if you smell exhaust its a serious problem .. if you are also getting a headache its even more serious ....

do not drive with windows closed ...
