Cadillac SRX 4.6 or Cadillac SRX 3.6?

Hello to everyone. Im in bit of confusion, im thinking of getting a car to myself, and im in between these two Cadillacs. According to some governamental sites the 4.6 L engine consumes less fuel than the 3.6 L engine, both production of 2004, RWD. Is that mechanically possible? Please everybody who might know something about this just feel free to leave a note, it will be appreciated and very helpfull. Thank you.

As far as I know, the fuel mileage is about the same. We own a V8, and I highly recommend it over the six cylinder.

Never heard of the V8 getting better mileage than the V6. From what I have heard, my "07 V8 gets about 2 mpg less than the V6. The V8 models come with a lot more standard equipment and are a little smoother and faster, but the V6 is no slouch either. (Note: The door sills were narrowed in '06, and the '07's got a new interior.)

3.6 vs 4.6

I have a 2005 srx with the 3.6 it has the sound and feel of a minivan but it ain't no slouch but it does have that 6cyl. feel in the pedal. I get 17-20mpg depending on if I'm being good or not.
I test drove a 2004 for my mother man it was loaded. It had a v8 that made a caddi seem like a caddi although not that much quicker than mine it made up for it by the feel. i was told the v8 uses or leaks oil.
my next caddi will be a V8

i have an 2004 srx v8 and also a 2004 cts with the same 3.6 as the srx. since we had the cts first when we looked at the srx we didnt think the v6 would be enough power for it after having it in the cts. i get 13 city and 17-19 hwy mpg and im up to 80k and thats been constant for the lifetime of the car(maybe dropped 1-2mpg). it is possible for a v8 to use less fuel than a v6 in the same car but i dont think it works for this scenario. one example i could use is say you put a big hemi in a jeep wrangler vs a v6. the hemi would be more effiecent as its goign to be a bigger engine working less hard since the jeep is very light and the v6 would have to work more to move that weight but since he srx weighs a few pounds i thinkt he v6 is more fuel effiecent but if you want the power go for the v8. best decision i made about the car. (please excuse some of my spelling errors, broken finger gets in the way)
