2005 SRX Will not start

I just bought a 2005 SRX that has about 100K miles on it and I love it but twice now it will not start. The lights are bringht the radio works but it does nothing when you turn the key. The battery is almost new. If you go back later it fires right up. Any ideas?

Hmm. This is interesting.
I can't really say... maybe something is loose? Like... hmm. Because everything still lights up and it just won't fire... hmm. Spark plugs maybe? Have the dealer check it out... I don't see why it lights right up but then won't actually START.

Starting Problem

I have the 2004 SRX and have the same problem, what is happening is that the car thinks it is being stolen, look at the dash and you will see
the orange symbol for the alarm syatem with a car and a padlock.

This has happened to me more times than I want to remember,Jump cables will make it start but what a hassle, sometimes it will clear if you leave the car for a while. I took it to the dealer but as he could not replacate the problem nothing was done. If you find a fix please post as will I.

Before you spend too much...

Before you spend money on a new battery or new computer, try getting a new key made. I had this problem and was bypassing by using a wire to jump ignition wire to + battery terminal. A friend suggested my key may be worn so got a new one. All fixed!

I had this same problem, turned out to be the starter relay. ...i had the computer relay replaced first and it worked for a week, then I had the starter relay replaced and it fixed the problem. I would recommend replacing the starter relay first to see if it fixed it outright, because it's a really cheap part and super easy to do yourself. Just take off the fuse box and there's a diagram on the underside of the lid that tells you exactly where it is.
