RE: 84 Seville trouble code 60
Code 60 relates to choosing an incorrect gear, right? if so, that can be driver error, either by manually downshifting or putting the trans in neutral while driving. On that old of a car, check the bushings where the shift linkage connects at the trans lever at the trans itself as well as the cross shaft linkage by the exhaust manifold. Seen many cases where those bushings are completely worn out or missing which can allow a code because the lever is moved too far sometimes.

cARNUT, your expertise are much appreciated,
I will clear the code and drive while making sure it is not knocked out of drive,
I also noticed that there seems to be a gear missing
it will go p,n,d,1,2, but not to 3.there seems to be missing a gear? wierd ...
Ill keep you posted

Clarify not going to 3 ? Do you mean it only shifts once? from 1st to 2nd? Or the shift lever wont go to 3 ? Did you look at the shift linkage for missing bushings, wasted motion? This is a 4 speed lock up t/converter trans.

I mean that it seems to be missing a gear
the dash has p,n,r,d,1,2,3
but when I shift it goes
p,n,r,d,1,2, and wont go no further,
i have never seen this before, and the trans seems to shift decent enough
and where would i look to check bushings/linkage??

NO, the shift indicator is P R N D 3 2 1. Do you mean you cannot move the lever to line up to 1? To ck bushings, open hood, lean over driver side fender andlook where the shift arm connects to the bracket on the cyl head just above the exhaust manifold. Have someone move the gear lever and you should see an immediate movement of the rod that goes down to the lever on the trans itself. At either end of that rod should be a nylon bushing so the lever moves at the same time the rod does.
