1996 Seville Trunk release issues
My trunk is unaccessible due to not being able to release the latch either my switch, remote fob, or key. It appears the lock mechanism is jammed, or stripped out. Initially the problem surfaced with the glove box and fob release. The latch would not release electronically. So, we used only the key in the lock. Finally, the key will not work either. The key turns within the lock cylinder, but nothing releases. The glove box electrical release actuates the solenoid, but the latch will not release. You can hear the solenoid clicking, but not releasing. I am mechanically able to replace the latch, but can not find a way into the truck. I have tried prying up on the trunk lid while using the key, or key fob. No success. Does anyone have a similiar experience? Is there a better way to release the latch, rather than drilling out the lock cylinder and manually destroying the latch?

at first, im thinking the key is sooo worn, but thats not it...... do you have a valet switch on the car that is turned off........ ???? or on? valet is, if you dont know, a way to secure valuables in the trunk, or glove box and those two things be disarmed, or armed..... hope it helps

Thanks, kindly for your response. I am familiar with the valet switch...turned it off and on and that does not make a difference. Although with it on, nothing happens....with it off, the solenoid does click, but not release. The primary key is worn, and I tried several replacement keys. Each key turns, but does not release the latch. The key fob makes the latch click, but the latch will not release. It seems that something in the latch is stripped. Or not fully engaging. Any other ideas are greatly appreciated.
