alternator replacement on 95

I am having to replace my alternator on my 95 seville sts, has anyone ever had to do this before? how much stuff do you have to remove to be able to get the darn thing out? the bolts are pretty accessable but not sure how you can get the dam thing out.

thanks

RE: alternator replacement on 95

There's a panel in the wheel well that it comes out of. Take out the fan and unbolt everything on the alternator from up top. If you feel the need to move the airbag sensor, disconnect the negative battery cable first (which should be disconnected anyway when you're changing the alt). Take off the serpentine belt (you don't have to completely remove it, just get it unhooked). Then jack the car up (put the ebrake on first) and remove the wheel, then the panel. a couple bolts may be easier to get to from the panel than from the top.

Goodluck!

I have a94 Seville SLS . the alternator comes out thru the bottom of the car. There is a small pannell on the radatior support held by 4 bolts if I remember right remove all bolts then remove the pannell its about 8 to 12 inches long.. Then you play tetress , turning the alternator back n forth as you take it out. It took me about 45 minutes to complete the job.
