98 SLS Windows Switch

Does anyone know how to remove the window switch in a 1998 Cadillac SLS and replace it with a new one

RE: 98 SLS Windows Switch

Are you sure you have a problem with the switch itself?

Some readers have solved a window inop type of problem by holding the window switch in the down position then slamming the door while keeping the switch activated.
Be careful not to slam the door on your fingers, toes, or helper.

It appears n my reference that the door switch unit simply comes straight up from the arm rest; the captions with the photos read:
Carefully pry up the power window switchplate and . . . gently remove it from the door panel

Or in your case you would pry it up, disconnect it, connect the new one, and replace it in the door panel.

1998 SLS window switch removal

Dear Andy,

On my 1998 SLS there is a metal clip on the front of the switch. I slid a flat blade screwdriver into that area and used it to depress the clip to remove it. Depress clip, lift up on front, slide forward to release plastic clips on back of switch. Justed removed mine again yesterday----both clips are metal kind of "V" shaped, and you have to get the top of the V to depress to remove.

Hope this helps.
Rick
