Default 87 seville fuel problem

I have an 87 seville that wont start getting a code that says open circut in fuel system.
I was hooking up a direct line fan, and needed power, so it was hooked up in the fuse panel under the hood, the wire went into the fuel pump fuse. This is what started this problem. can anyone tell me where to go from here
thanks

I think you have answered your own question. Probably overloaded that circuit and popped the fuse. Fuel pumps draw around 10 amps, fans can draw 30 amps!! Diagnose and fix the fan circuit correctly. Fans running all the time can prolong engine getting to temperature, affecting mileage and driveability. If I recall, the fans are controlled thru a large fan module mounted to the radiator cross brace just to the passenger side of center. 2 large plugs attach to it.

The fuse has been replaced, and the fan unhooked but still wont start, If I reset the computer by disconnecting the battery It will fire, then I get the open cirut code, could it possibly be the relay? I dont know how to check a relay, or what else could be causing this code.

Open circuit means a disconnected wire or failed relay. This car has more than one relay that is the same part number, swap the relay first. Disconnecting the battery does no good in this case. With the key on, have you verified voltage on both sides of the fuse contacts? Power for the fuel pump is also provided with one wire from the oil pressure switch just above the oil filter. Make sure that connector isclean and secure. If the ECU sees no oil pressure thru this switch, it will disconnect the fuel pump circuit.
