air mix door and trouble starting

I have an 89 cadillac fleetwood fwd. The control code says that there is a problem with the air mix door, but I'm not sure where that's located or how to check it. Theair seems to get very cold after a while even though the heat is running. Is this related to the air mix door problem? Also, I'm having trouble starting the car. If it sets for several hours, it just cranks and cranks for several times before it starts. When it's running it sounds great. What could be the problem?

Programmer has air mix door motor made to it. Remove glove box to check operation. Motors do go bad.

Check fuel pressure. It should go to 38+psi when key is turnned to run.

To verify air mix door operation, remove the glove box liner. You will see a large black box with a threaded rod attached to a white plastic arm on top. Start the car, dial in 90 degrees on the climate control. You should see the threaded rod be moved towards you to the full heat position. Then dial in 60 degrees, you should see the arm and rod start to retract towards the firewall. The arm and rod should move slowly and smoothly in both directions. If the rod stops for a few seconds or is jerky, the little motor within the large black box (programmer) is faulty. Also verify no wiring is tangled up in the rod keeping it from moving. Report back with what you observed the rod doing.
