1988 Fleetwood Brougham

I have a 1988 Fleetwood Brougham D'elegance package. Right now it has a 5.0L 305CI engine in it. It does all right but I want something with more get up and go. What engines would you suggest. Would it be better to sell it and find one with more power than go through the headache of swapping? I am pretty mechanically inclined but I also don;t have alot of spare time on my hands.

The 5.0 or 305 is the tried and true Chevrolet small block dating back to 1955. There are more performance parts made for this engine than any other engine on the planet. The 305 has powered Z 28 Camaros, Monte Carlo SS and Trans Ams. You should have no troble pumping up the horsepower in this engine. One of the top performing 305's of all time is RPO L69 used in the above performance cars I named. This is a modified version using the Corvette cam and other pieces to achieve good output. Edelbrock manufactures heads and cams for your engine that are 50 state emmission legal. You should have no problem getting 250+ HP from this engine. Of course if you need to you can always drop in a 350 crate engine with over 300 HP.
