1987 Cadillac Brougham D'elegance engine temperature

Sorry if I am repeating a question that has already been asked. But I have been looking for a week now and cant find the answers I am looking for.

I hope you all can help.

Last week I purchased a 1987 Cadillac Brougham D'elegance.

The car is in great shape and runs well.

I was wondering is there a way of checking the temperature of the engine?

I believe the car may have a blown head gasket. It is loosing coolant. The oil is milky, and the car has white cloudy smoke. The car has not been driven much in the last few years. Could it be that the car has condensation built up and just needs an oil change?

If it is the head gasket is there any other way of testing the car to verify the head gasket is damaged?

Also is there a cheaper fix for the head gasket for example using something like blue devil. Replacing the head gasket is out of the budget right now.

Problem is most likely leaking intake gasket, not head gasket. You need a FSM it's not a DIY friendly repair. For an experienced tech its all day job. I would find an experienced Cadillac tech to do it or help you with it. The engine has a aluminum block and iron heads IDK it engine repair in a can will work. Also thermostat housing is a major PITA water pump may need to be removed and re-installed during the course of repair.
