Vin decryption

Hello guys. First time noob posting on the forums. I have been reading the forums for a couple of days before I purchased my 96 Eldorado. I got a pretty good deal on it but for the most part love the styling. But enough of me blabbing.

I am sure someone here knows how to decrypt the vin numbers. I did a car fax on the vehicle I did purchase but it dont really tell me much about a build sheet on that site.

I was wondering if someone could tell me a little more about the car from the Vin. I for one dont know if it is the 300hp motor or the other model. Granted it is the 32v northstar. If you do know this info any chance you could post what digit the info came from.

1996 Cadillac Eldorado - Black Paint.

At one time I was really into knowing what digits meant specific information about vehicles but dont really know much about this car or its model other then I like and enjoy my purchase. I have read some info about traction control bugs for vins ending in 614516 and was wondering if something could be told about the vin from my vehincle?

Thanks for your time.

Scott

Opps. Not much sooner than I posted this I found this site.

Only thing is they seemed to get the color of the car wrong. Granted according to carfax the original color of the car is black.
