new purchase possible

im looking to buy a 2000 eldorado with 109xxx miles. Its an ESC arizona edition and from the pictures it looks to be in great condition. the guy is asking 4500 obo. He's considering a trade for my 03 s10 bazer 5speed with similar miles and value similar to what he's asking. My father has an eldorado as well, just cant remember the yr. THe main concern is mx factors. I know my father has to spend lots at a dealer to correct issues. How often do sensors trip? Is it regularly expensive for simple mx issues. He had a fuel sensor issue that cost close to $1000, but the part cost $24 at a parts store.

Im sure there are lots of topics already out there, but I would love the opinion of cadi owners to tell me thier thoughts and advise on what to look for when test driving. Hopefully the advise wont be too biased. :D

Eldo

If you are worried about sensors, well that could happen to just about any car. If you want to purchase this Eldo then I would be checking the performance of the engine in both hot and cold conditions. Some sensors will show up faulty during cold conditions and some while hot. Before you test drive learn how to pull the codes and when you do drive it you can check to see if the computer is throwing codes and then have some idea if the car has history.
