93 Eldorado ETC cooling issue

I recently bought a 93 Eldorado ETC. Has 32v Northstar 4.6L. The car is fine driving around on the streets, but when you get on the freeway for about five min., the car starts telling me that the coolant temp. is high. Can anybody give me a little insight? Thank you.

RE: 93 Eldorado ETC cooling issue

Check the small purge hose that goes to the recovery tank. If restricted, plugged up, the coolant cannot circulate. Also ck the nipples the hose connects to for being plugged. Hi speed overheating is usually restricted circulation or "HEAD GASKETS!" Lets hope its restricted. Also check the radiator surface for debris, leaves, bugs, road kill! If covered, that will restrict air flow. Check the little water pump belt, Tight?
