2k eldo start/stall

Car has been sitting for about a yr now, replaced valve cover gaskets, plugs, boots, batt, cmp, ckps(full of oil), pcv, vacuum lines, fuel filter, just all around maintenance. Well now when I turn the key it fires up and dies immediately, hardly even cranks. Stinks and smokes a little from tailpipe. Before parking it had warmup stall issues and threw a maf code but always restarted and stayed running.

Check fuel pressure. Is the fuel old and contaminated?

Connect a scan tool, find out what the computer wants you to know. "Codes" can be helpful, but the real diagnostic power is in the data stream. Verify ALL of the sensors and computer outputs.

Does that vehicle need a "relearn" when the crank sensor is changed?

Fuel pressure is 45psi at prime(in spec), drops to about 37 right after then creeps up to 40 where it holds. I actually drained the old fuel and put new 5 gal in little over a month ago in an attempt to start it which is when I found that it dies. Picking up a scanner tomorrow to pull codes, I'll update then. Also yes there is a relearn procedure but the car must be running to do so, it wouldn't start even before the ckp replacement.

Do more than look at "codes". View the data stream to assure that the computer is receiving valid data from all the sensors, and sending out appropriate signals to the various actuators and providing appropriate spark advance.
