Hoping for some insight from people who have been there before. Working on an 84 for a customer/friend, engine runs smoothly and to my knowledge never warns of low oil pressure, but at nearly 40 yrs old she has some leaks: power steering (all fixed), oil pan and possibly rear seal. Oil pan is off, very little sludge. The oil pickup is loose in the pump housing - by loose I mean it wiggles side to side and back and forth a little, not up and down. Is this normal? I was expecting the tube to have a solid press fit in the pump housing. I have Alldata for the car but can't find any info on this question.

Re. the rear seal, I can't decide whether the slight oil I see on the flywheel is from the rear seal or blow back from the oil pan; I suspect the latter. It would probably make sense to change it while there but it looks like it would be awkward to change the upper half of that seal given the poor access with engine still in the car. Thoughts on this?
