2007 Cadillac DTS Expansion Valve
 

I own a 2007 Cadillac DTS. The AC recently locked up and I am installing all new components when I fix the car such as the Compressor, Condenser and Expansion valve. My questions is how do you get the expansion valve out of the firewall? It appears that it should come out via the firewall but it also has a low lip that doesn't allow the expansion valve to come out without extensive effort.
Can anyone identify how to remove and replace the expansion valve in a 2007 Cadillac DTS? Does it require removal of the dash to remove from the interior?

Unfortunately the dash has to come out or be re-positioned to replace expansion valve. You have to unbolt HVAC case from firewall to get to expansion out. It will depend on you. I wound have to remove dash. Someone "Lean & Lanky" maybe not.

I maneuvered the expansion valve out but going back in I do not see any other option but to remove the dash. Wishful thinking on an easier alternative. I've come to despise this car for its many aspects of poor engineering and lack of design for ease of repairing. Thanks for the response!
