Where to Find Chrome Tip Exhaust Extensions?

For my 1988 DeVille. The tailpipe is not that attractive, and the rear bumper has a beautiful chrome shine. I want to put a tail pipe extension (just a tip) on the tailpipe to hide the discolored exhaust. Where and how would I look to find one to fit an 88 DeVille? Thanks!

There are a lot of places to get these, here is just one, others may have better sites or sources for caddy specific.

Exhaust Tips - JC Whitney: Auto Parts & Accessories

Hope this gets you going in the right direction.

Gary's option is great. last time i looked they had "bolt-on" units.

a 2nd optionis to drive into your local non-franchise muffler shop and ask.
most of the independent shops will weld chrome tips from their stock in 5 min

Here are mine, Ractive brand purchased at Canadian Tire. They are stainless steel three bolt system about $25 each. You can find some good ones. Mine fit in the cutouts in the bumper valance, don't know why Cadillac never installed some in the first place, why cut out the valance?I like going for an OEM look but you can go wild or mild. Sometimes you need to trim the existing pipe to get a good fit.

What is meant by inlet? outlet? How would I know which tip would fit my 88 DeVille?

Thanks!

Inlet is the opening that the exhaust enters and outlet is the opening the exhaust exits. Normally you will see exhaust tips with as an example: 2 1/4" inlet and 2 1/2" oulet. This gives the impression of having a larger diameter tail pipe than there actually is. You also need to know OD for outside diameter and ID for inside diameter.

To figure out which extension to buy to need to measure the OD of the tail pipe, this is the diameter from outside edge to outside edge then you get an extension with that inlet size or a bit bigger so that it fits over your existing pipe. It is sometimes hard to measure if the pipe is slant cut so since you are putting on an extension anyway you could put a straight cut on it then measure, then go get a extension. You also need to worry about extension length because you don't want a pipe sticking 6 inches off the bumper either. I think that 9" is a pretty common length.

You just need a tape measure and some patience and you will figure it all out.

Here is a photo of the left side rear of a Pontiac I had, it was dual with these tips. Again they were Ractive brand, 2 1/2" inlet and oval 6 1/2" outlet with a solid C clamp system. On your 88 Cadillac the dual Bonneville system may fit if you want dual tailpipes.
