Overheating on 97 Deville

I am having a problem and somehow I cant duplicate it,the car lost some coolant and a low coolant warning came up,I put in some antifreeze but I cant swear that the mixture was 50/50 water antifreeze. My low oil came on and I was over 2 quarts low. This morning my wife used my car and again some coolant came out so I put in almost a gallon of premixed extended life antifreeze and two quarts of oil.Now I dont see any leaks and the coolant temp is 208 thru 215 but no leaks.I was never told I needed to change out my antifreeze so I never did.About 4 years ago while my car was still under warrenty I had to have major engine work done because of overheating.I am at a lost as to what the problem is or was but I will flush my radiator and put in what ever additive I need to put in.Have anybody had this happen to them and did you find out what was wrong? If any one can enlighten me please help also what is the normal temperture range of the coolant. Thanks

Your post says Overheating 97 Deville in the title but you don't mention any overheating in your description. The temperatures you are quoting are in the normal range. Did the car overheat?

Thanks for the reply.I nthrought that a caddy had to overheat for coolant to come out,and I throught that any temp over 208 was high. Now I really dont know what is or was going on.I will check when its light outside.By the way, what are the normal temperature range for a caddy?

Up to 220 would be considered normal operating temp. If you see 225 or more for extended periods that would be out of the ordinary. Limp home mode kicks in at about 245 I believe.

I just idled for 15 minutes waiting on my daughter to finish work, The temp got up to 208, then once I started driving home it fell fast and settled around 192. I am in Canada so it is just below freezing tonight where we live.

Thanks for the reply.Yesterday my temp went up to 224 and this was the first time it's done that so I replaced the thermostat and tried to drain as much antifreeze as I could from block and radiator. Now my car runs around 196 to 199 and I feel a lot better. If any one reads this I need to know should I still put in the tablets I purchased from the cadillac dealer? I had to have my head gaskets replaced about 39,000 miles ago at the dealer so I am trying very hard not to repeat that again,it cost me $2400.00.Also where is the radiator drain on this car? I had to take the hose loose to drain the radiator. If anyone know the answer please let me know.

Drain is at bottom of drivers side tank on engine side and its a pain to get to. Let alone loosen.
