RE: overheating
Sticking thermostat always possible. Infrared gun would be handy in diag. How hot were hoses?,when condition occurred.

RE: overheating
sorry i forgot to let you know i took it to a backyard mechanic and he said everything seems to be normal..he said thermostat is working fine...he was the one that said that it might be a sensor or something electrial...he is a older guy that really dosent work on cars with a lot of electrial equip. but he gave it a once over since we are live next to each other

RE: overheating
If it overheated or ran hot then coolant was not doing it's job. If thermostat is ok then perhaps water pump is gone bad or malfunctioning.

RE: overheating
can it go bad overnight...reason for this question is it ran fine the day before and then the next day problem started and the length of time before it starts acting up

The car died? IF it shuts down, something is seriouly in need. |
RE: overheating
Put on the heater full blast. If you get heat water is circulating through system and pump is fine. If low heat or no heat impellers are corroded and pump is done. You might also see some leakage from the seep hole on the water pump cover left front of engine.
