Oil Leaks

My car is an '87 Coupe DeVille. The engine leaks oil. I remember reading that this engine was prone to leaks, but I don't recall the specifics. I can't see any leaking oil looking from the engine compartment. Can someone help where to look and what the fix is? Would a oil leak sealer do any good? Thanks, I appreciate any tips/help/info.......

RE: Oil Leaks

Dave; There are only so many places thatoil can leak from. If it's the engine it will be the valve cover gaskets, oil pan gasket, or the front or rear engine seals. If it's the tranny then likely to be the pan gasket or from the torque converter area. Run your car up on a set of ramps, block the wheel good, and climb under to see what areas look the most wet. Follow those up to see what the source is. Most gasket changes are not that difficult just be careful to clean every surface well and use gasket sealer to prevent possible leaks from your new gaskets. Good luck.....

Thanks, but I know about that. I thought I remembered this engine had a problem with the case mating area?

Hello mr brougham1. I just. Changed my oil today and was planning on getting around to changing the valve covers and noticed it doesn't seem to be the valve covers leaking but a bolt right above the spark plug on driver side and when I start it up u can see it kind of like bubbling or leaking from the bolt. What could this b?
