If buying a used Deville (00-05) what do you recommend?

Sometime in the near furture, I plan on purchasing one of the 00-05 model Devilles.I just wanted to find out as much as I could to make the best decision on the right one. I've heard many stories of people getting stuck with problem devilles and I dont want to be one of them. What are some of the things that i should look for when going to get one (things that may be problems)? Basically whats your guide on buying a used 2000 deville. Also would you trust buying from eBay? Any info would help. Thanks!

RE: If buying a used Deville (00-05) what do you recommend?

you buy off-ebay, wholesale, u better know what u doing.
if you get burned, you cant cry. same applies to private sales ..
DO YOUR HOMEWORK - which you seem to be doing.

to the normal things list and codes, i would add 1) checking the battery area
under the back seat, 2) check for "muddy sludge coolant" and 3) demand an
exhaust gases / CO2 test to the cooling system (headgaskets).

most mechanics do NOT check these three items that are becoming an
issue these days.

if the car is over 4 years old, assume about $1,000 after taking delivery for
little things that you are going to need or want done.

best value is around 4 to 6 years old, under 80,000 miles, the depreciation taken,
bugs taken care off, warranty still there and lots of miles left.

keep us posted ...
