Help! 98 Cad Deville with 155k won’t start.
Hi,
The car was running well until yesterday when it suddenly won’t start. Turn the key only make a click. For about a month, I needed to turn the key for a couple of times to start the car. The battery has adequate power (13v). Jump-start did not help. The only code retrieved from the dashboard is PCM 603 history.
Is it a bad starter?
Thanks very much.

Hey Kevink: Sounds like the starter solenoid to me .To check the solenoid connect a jumper lead between the battery positive terminal and the ignition switch terminal on the solenoid(small terminal) If the starter now operates then the solenoid is O.K. The problem will then lie in the ignition switch , neutral start switch or the wiring. If the solenoid is gone then the starter still has to come out , but at much less cost....
Have fun.............

Hi Kevink; I had a similiar problem with mine and it turned out to be a bad ground. Drove me crazy for months. Try cleaning the battery term. Mine looked great till I took them off and looked at them. Good luck.

brougham1, where is the starter?
842heat, which bad ground do you refer? The battery works fine for everything else like lights, power door and seats etc. Turn the ignition key will make a single click, but no grinding sound.
