Diagnostic Codes... What Do These REALLY Mean???
I pulled the following codes from my '98 Deville today. I then did a search and got these brief and vague descriptions of the problems. Could anyone elaborate on any of these??? I'm having a SERIOUS security problem right now!!! These were all of the current codes.... minus the stupid lost signal ones.

RE: Diagnostic Codes... What Do These REALLY Mean???
that is a lot of codes. seems electrical in nature.
i be looking for a disconnected harness connector, dirty grounding straps, oxidized BUSS connections, loose connectors to computer control boxes, and if nothing there, i be reading the thread that addresses 90% of the problems we see in our cars: e-ghosts, intermittent, dielectric https://www.cadillacforum.com/m_6068/tm.htm get a can of contact cleaner and a can of dielectric grease before you start. besides, we all should have these two items in our tool boxes at all times. after 8 years in Ohio, connector oxidation is not unheard of. a worse posibility is a failed computer box or a shorted wire. lol |

If and only IF you have a local mechanic that you can trust, he can scan the car just like the dealer and start tracking this down.
Make sure whether you go to the dealer or the local guy that no work is to be done without your approval. Lookfor a place on the work order for you to indicate this. There may be a small charge for checking out your problem. If you have no way of checking this out yourself I don't see another solution. |
