Deville Backup Sensors

I have a 2001 Deville DHS and the backup sensors work sporadically, meaning that they will occasionally work properly and alarm at the correct time. However, a lot of times as soon as you shift into reverse, even if nothing is behind you for miles, they will ding as if there's something immediately behind you that you're about to hit and all three lights in the rear are lit and blinking. Has anyone else had this problem? Do I need to go behind the rear bumper and clean sensors or is that where the actual sensor is?

RE: Deville Backup Sensors

This happened to a lexus I had. The problem was that it had taken a light hit from someone's bumper and it was slightly "tilted" and would appear something was there. Don't know if that's your problem, but check it out. Otherwise check all contacts, and clean if necessary.

Thanks! I'll try that. I'll get in behind the bumper and make certain they don't appear tilted or dirty in anyway.
