RE: Check engine light
without any codes i can't tell you. your best bet is to call around autozones in your area and see if they have a scanner for your car and that year. autozone's the hookup, they do a free diagnostic on everything

RE: Check engine light
thanks but what codes do u mean im sorry im new at this

RE: Check engine light
i'm not sure how to pull the codes up for your car. someone else would have to answer or you might as well go to AutoZone like i said and they'll tell you better in person what you have to do to correct the problem - for free.:)

RE: Check engine light
the codes are information your engine gives techs to figure out what is happening with your car. for example you'll get a series of codes if your battery dies or is disconnected fully for more than a few minutes. this is just to let you know stuff thats happened in the past to different parts of your car, or what is happening currently. this is the difference between a history code and a current code.
as for pulling up yours i can only tell you based on my model, which is a 94 deville concours. i have to hold both the OFF botton on the econ control cluster and the "warmer", or HEAT UPbutton at the same time. this'll light the whole instrument cluster on your dash up, then start spittin codes out so be ready with pen and paper. come back and post what codes you got after you do that |
