'96 Deville Knock Sensor replacement
My Caddy has been in storage for the last month and a half. I went to go pick it up today and the batteries were dead. I have two batteries for car audio use, which I assume drained eachother from their internal resistance. Anyways, Once I jumped it the check engine light stayed on. I drove right to Autozone and they ran the codes and said it's the knock sensor. I would like to fix this problem, but I have no idea where it is. Can ANYBODY give me ANY direction as to where the knock sensor is? It is a '96 Deville with the 4.6L . Thanks.

RE: '96 Deville Knock Sensor replacement
Knock sensor is on the rear head between cylinders 1 and 3 on a Northstar. Could be something as simple as loose connection or a rodent that chewed the connection.

RE: '96 Deville Knock Sensor replacement
Thanks for the info. I'll look for it in the morning. Is there anything significant that would make it recognizable?

RE: '96 Deville Knock Sensor replacement
It will have some wires going into a connector that clips on so you will have to relase ths clip to remove the wires and the sensor.

RE: '96 Deville Knock Sensor replacement
Didn't find anything on the head itself. I found something that resembles the O2 sensor around cylinders 1 and 3 but it's down lower on the exhaust pipe coming off the engine.

Hey there I can offer some help that is reliable to you. The knock sensor is located under your intake manifold. Remove the intake manifold only if you are mecahanicly inclined. Ofcourse youknow to relieve the pressure from the injector Rail! It is white in color with a blue wire.
