94 cadillac deville, 4.9l, camshaft sensor replacement

Will replacing the camshaft sensor stop the jerking and cutting off of the car while in drive? Also the diagnostics request a new distributor cap, rotor, and spark plug/wires. Will this solve the problem?

Looks like a few specific questions here. Have you been told by a mechanic that your car needs these items? In short , all of the mentioned parts affect the way your car idles in drive.

Yes. I had a diagnostic done at my local cadillac dealer and this is what they came up with, but of course they didnt want to help me with any questionsonce I decided to get outside help because of high labor charges.

Whay not try and do some of these things yourself ? In a 94 your wires are probably shot so they are being straight with you same goes for the other pieces. You can tackle the spark plugs and wires easy enough. Try that and see how she runs. Don't get cheap plugs and wires either. Get GM parts. I always take the approach to start off easy and see how it runs, if it still is rough after plugs and wires go to the Distributor and Rotor and cam sensor. If you feel comfortable do some or all of these yoursel to save some money.
