2001 Deville - head light flash

anyone had any problems with the headlights on 2001 deveille flickering or flashing. after card has been runing for short period of time, head lamps will flash for a super quick second. this happens 2 times.

Yeah. My 2001 Deville does the same thing. The first time it happened I said Oh Oh what was that all about. It's been doing it ever since I have had the car and hasn't caused a problem (yet). I have 28,800 miles on it. Maybe it has something to do with the automatice lighting sentinel.

Join the club. My 2001 has 115,000 and I've had the issue for quite some time. I still wonder why, but no longer concerned. Replacing the battery with a larger capacity doesn't fix it.

Are they xenon headlights or regular bulbs? Sometimes xenon lights ( real xenon) will flicker for a split second, pretty commonon any car equipped with them.

Mine are regular bulbs. It's almost like something cuts out the power to them for a fraction of a second.

COuld be that the headlight is loose in the bracket and its pulling on a harness connection. Or you could have a loose connection somewhere, I'd check the wiring. Also, you could have a bad socket, or it may just be dirty. Flickering for any electrical component is usually a bad connection somewhere.

I doubt very much that it is a loose connection. If it was it would do it when going over bumps and rough surfaces. It only does it one time and it happens within a couple of minutes after driving the car . The characteristics of the dimming don't appear to represent a loose connection.Mine has done it from day one.

Didn't know that it didn't occur going over bumps, also didn't know it only dimmed and didn't cut out completely. Why don't you try checking out some technical service bulletins?, since it doesn't appear to be an isolated problem.

I also have noticed this on my 02 Deville. The headlight relay that times out the lights was replaced about a year ago when my Dad owned the car......
Maybe a loose connection at relay? or defective relay? Could be related?

Guess nobody figured this out yet...
