1976 DEVILLE AIR CONDITIONER

I bought a '76 Deville in MINT condition knowing that the a.c. was not working. The car has only 50,000 miles on it and rides like a dream. The previous owners said the freon leaked out and would have to be re-charged. (We know what that is like)....[:@]

My question is, can I successfully use FREEZE-12 instead of the old Freon in my system after the leak has been found and repaired? I DO NOT want to convert to r-134a. My thermal fuse was blown thus validating (hopefully) that all she needs is a leak repair and new charge.

Thanks for some insight

Jeff

RE: 1976 DEVILLE AIR CONDITIONER

Hi... I'm new here. However I'm in the HVAC field. I would certainly not recommend the 134a conversion.... too much $$$$ and lousy performance.... I would recommend using a drop in replacement refrigerant...

Step1 replace thermal fuse and dessicant suction drier. 2 leak test system with dry nitrogen and then evacuate system for at least 4 hours to dry system out. Step 3 re-charge system with refrigerant R-416A known as FR-12

There is also R416-B either will work. You should run a 35-40 # suction pressure with air on max and blower on high and engine at 1000 rpm....

Works great on my MIL's old Pontiac....been 5 years no problems.... :)

Good Luck...

Mixing R-12 and Freeze 12 is illegal
Freeze 12 is 80% R-134a
