Sport mode - Snow mode buttons?

I have a 2003 CTS with the luxury spory package. Recently my sport and snow traction buttons on the console
beside the auto shifter have been sticking.

Can anyone tell me how to access them? Does the shifter cover holding them just snap off? Or...exactly
how do I do it?

Thanks,

Henry

RE: Sport mode - Snow mode buttons?

Hey there,

The sport mode button and the winter mode button are part of the PRNDL module. It could be possible that this switch is going bad and or something sticky got inside of the switch. If I were you and you don't want to pay for this repair, try dropping some lube down into the switch, not to much, just a little. If the switch appears to be not seated correctly, you can remove the switch by removing the shifter boot, carefully pull the boot up from the console bezel. There are 4 little tabs that retain the boot to the console plate. After the boot is up and away, you can then carefully pull the console plate loose to get to the PRNDL assembly and have a look at the switch. The PRNDL is just snap in place.

Using WD40 is ok. You can also buy some contact cleaner at Radio Shack which might work.

Good Luck
